FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Fort Lauderdale, Florida—On Sunday, March 20, 2011 J.M. Field Marketing joined the efforts of thousands of businesses and individuals across Florida to support the Florida 10K AIDS Walk 2011. The walk was organized by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation to raise awareness about and help reverse the continuing epidemic of HIV/AIDS in South Florida. The 5th annual Florida 10K Walk opening ceremony began at 9:15 with lively performances by Gay Men’s Chorus of South Florida and jazz artist Nicole Henry. Ten J.M. Field Marketing employees and friends participated in the 10 kilometer walk, led by team leader Bianca Soracco. The 10K route included a 2-hour walk through the heart of downtown, Fort Lauderdale, to the beach and back to Huizenga Plaza. Throughout the walk zone there were signs posted to indicate each mile, refreshments setup at several check points, volunteers to cheer on the walkers and relief shuttle for individuals who needed assistance.
Bianca Soracco, a Promotional Product Specialist at J.M. Field Marketing remarked, “Since AIDS is such a terrible disease and it affects over 167, 000 individuals in Florida alone, we wanted to be a part of group of people who are committed to raising funds and donating to raise awareness for and provide care for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.” J.M. Field Marketing is committed to supporting the community through providing financial support and volunteering to improve the lives of individuals and families in need. After the AIDS Walk, the J.M. Field Marketing team was thrilled to find out that the Florida AIDS Walk 2011 volunteers helped raise a total of $640,000, surpassing the initial fundraising goal of $500,000.
The proceeds raised were donated to AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Broward House, SunServe, the Pride Center at Equality Park and Women In Network which provide lifesaving care and other services to individuals living with HIV/AIDS. In addition, funds raised will go toward the expansion of HIV prevention and testing efforts in Florida’s Broward and Miami Dade counties.
