Latest News – J.M. Field Marketing Launches Internship Program
Last month marked the start of our internship program. The program is open to college students interested in gaining a better understanding of the operations and decision making process within a marketing firm, while assuming professional-level responsibilities and receiving guidance from experienced marketing professionals. The program is an extension of our outreach services to help educate the next generation of marketers and develop a stronger and healthier community.
During the eight-week internship program, students will spend two weeks in each of the four departments of the company—fulfillment services, graphic design and direct marketing, web design and online marketing and materials production. Communication, design, marketing and business students will have the opportunity to put the knowledge they’ve gained from their college courses into practice. In addition, successful recruits are taught how to handle fulfillment projects, design graphics and marketing campaigns, develop websites and online marketing strategies, write copy for blogs and websites as well as support the materials production department. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in marketing meetings, assist in client visits and sit in on promotional product vendor meetings. Our internship program offers valuable exposure to the marketing industry and the opportunity to work closely with the staff and clientele. And, for students interested in a more specific experience, we also have short-term, four-week internship programs available.
Wynn Schoeneck, a third year Marketing and Management Information Systems major at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York is the program’s first intern. Since beginning his internship in June, Schoeneck has completed orders for the fulfillment department, designed and edited websites, assisted with inventory maintenance, composed blogs for the blog and much, much more. “I’ve been given legitimate responsibilities in all the different departments, there’s no coffee fetching and paper shredding duties involved. It’s an experience I would never have been able to have at a larger company,” remarked Wynn Schoeneck.
The ability for its interns to participate in all facets of the company is what makes our internship program instrumental in leaving students with a strong portfolio and experience to add to their resume. Since each intern post comes with its own specific set of tasks, each intern will be introduced to a wide array of skills to prepare him or her to enter the marketing workforce.
