COS or cost of sale is used to measure the success of a marketing campaign. It is essentially the reverse of ROI.  To find the COS, you divide the total expenditure by the total revenue and the answer is calculated as a percentage. For instance, if I spend a $1 and make $5 my cost of sale would be 1 / 5 which is 20%.
