SEO Part 2- Finding the Right Keywords

It can be difficult to choose the right keywords that describe the services and products that your company provides. When it comes to choosing the right keywords, you need to select terms that people frequently search for.  In addition, you need to make sure that your keywords are not too narrow nor are they too general.

If they’re too narrow, very few people will search for those terms which means that you will have few to no new sales. In addition, if your keywords are too general your website won’t rank very well. Plus, general keywords are too expensive to market. Your website will rank better when competition for the keywords are low.

Have you ever looked through the 21 million search results that came up when you searched for black handbags?  Most people don’t look past the first 3 search results pages on a search engine such as Google. If your website comes up on the 7th or 48th search results page, very few people will click on your website. The keywords shouldn’t just be in the content on your website, they should also be in the:

  • Title Tag
  • Meta Description
  • Headline
  • And Navigation Link

Having the right keywords will help you improve your website search engine ranking and visibility. Don’t forget to monitor your website because keywords change over time and you need to keep up-to-date with the keywords people frequently use. Plus, this is how you stay ahead of your competition.
