Marketing with Nonprofit Organizations

You may already know the interest we take in lending a helping hand to local charities and nonprofit organizations. Each year we host a Thanksgiving food drive, encouraging our staff to bring in canned goods for those less fortunate than ourselves. While our lobbies may start to look like your 5th grade homeroom class around the holidays, we know that assisting in whatever way possible can make a difference. More recently we also put on the J.M. Field Marketing edition of the popular game show Minute to Win It in an effort to raise money for The Heart Gallery, which helps and supports foster children of Broward County find permanent and loving homes, and The Make-A-Wish Foundation, which grants the wishes of terminally ill children. Our marketing efforts proved to pay off with the help of our clients as we raised more than $3,000 for the Heart Gallery and $500 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Incorporating community involvement into your business is not only great for employee morale but also for marketing purposes. Prospective customers often recognize and respect those businesses that go above and beyond to help those in need. But, you don’t need to donate huge amounts of money or put on lavish charity events to help out. Here are a few simple ways you can make a difference without breaking the bank.

  • Become a sponsor for a community charity event. Every weekend there are tons of events like golf tournaments, marathons, fitness walks, auctions and so on that benefit local charities. By simply becoming a sponsor, you gain the exposure while helping to support a great cause.
  • Donate a small percentage of your net profits at the close of each year. The donations are tax deductible and give consumers an incentive to continue doing business with you.
  • Donate promotional products to a local fundraiser. For example, give away branded water bottles or at an outdoor event. You’ll be able to create brand awareness while helping others.

No matter how you help out, by incorporating nonprofit organizations into your marketing efforts you’ll benefit not only yourself but also the organization that needs support from businesses like yours to stay afloat.
