Comic Con and Warner Bros: Marketing to your Audience

Every year hundreds of thousands of comic book fans come out in droves to attend Comic Con. Almost everyone at this convention has heard of Warner Bros, but that doesn’t stop them from utilizing the opportunity to create more brand awareness and maintain their well-known brand identity. The company signed on as a sponsor of the 2010 Comic Con and has chosen to provide  custom tote bags to each attendee. One side of the bag displays an illustration of the Comic Con logo and the other a picture of a major Warner Brothers productions such as The Looney Tunes Show, Batman: The Brave and the Bold (the videogame), Scooby-Doo! The Old Spice Campaign, A Lesson in Social Media

We’ve all seen the Old Spice commercial with the sweet talking spokesman, Isaiah Mustafa, who delivered the memorable lines “the man your man could smell like.” What started with the “I’m on a horse” commercial has turned into a massive social media campaign due to the overwhelmingly positive response by both men and women to the advertisement.

Old Spice’s response to this was to have Isaiah reply to about 200 fans who asked creative questions or left comments on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. The Old Spice Guy’s reply was in the form of funny and playful YouTube videos. Read the rest of this entry »

Soccer World Cup Schwag

Congratulations to  Spain on their first FIFA World Cup victory! The game was an intense match with both teams displaying their strengths until overtime when Spain finally scored. At the end of the game, I couldn’t help but notice the FIFA’s promotional product strategy.

As soon as the match ended, FIFA chose one specific promotional items to give to the Spanish players– custom printed t-shirts. We see this schwag on display every year after a major sports finale whether it’s at the Winter Olympics, Super Bowl or Soccer World Cup. But the product choice is definitely no accident! Make your Summer Marketing Campaign Sizzle

It’s summer. It’s hot. Swimming pools, the beach and a nice cold ice tea on a long sweltering day.  No worries, right? Well with the economy recovering slowly and customers still hasten to buy; you need do to something to grab their attention.

The CBS2 New York station thought the same thing. With the weather in New York getting hotter by the minute, and with everyone talking about it, they decided to make the most of the buzz by announcing a free bottled water giveaway at the Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn. Of course, the bottles displayed the CBS2 logo. So the question is will the event be a rousing success or will it wilt like an unwatered flower?
